I had to make a run to the clinic this afternoon for a couple of my prescriptions, which meant I was lucky enough to run across the youth group from the Methodist Church doing a service project.

Colorado East Bank had granted them permission to set up some big cardboard boxes there in the parking lot on Main Street. After an evening of taking in donations from passing cars, the kids are sleeping in the boxes to raise public awareness of our local homeless shelter, and why it is needed. During their first hour or so they had already raised almost $400!

After this good night’s sleep, they are cleaning up a park tomorrow!

It’s not just a myth that small towns are good places to raise good kids.
