Just LABEL me an old-fashioned gal
I guess I technically am, today, anyway. I’ve spent a lot of the day so far working on the mailing we are going to do for the Prowers County Dems. I’m a net junkie, but most people aren’t, so we need to use the services of the good old Post Office to get the word out.
VAN (Voter Access Network?) is a great resource, but Murphy never sleeps, so I had to fiddle things around a little bit before I could get the labels to start flowing out of my printer. My mistake was in following the on-line instructions to the letter. Really, I should know better than THAT by now!
The labels themselves make a funny story. Jillane had a bunch she couldn’t use, but when she brought them to a meeting, it turned out they were the tractor feed kind. But luckily, Susan L could use those in HER business, and she had a big box of label sheets to trade for it.
Except they were 33 to a page size, which is not a size the interface at VAN recognizes. However, MY printing program will accept them, and what seems like several million other sizes, with no argument. So *I* kept the 33s and bought some new ones in the favored size. (I hope we don’t have to try to explain all that in our financial report!)
We are trying to make the postage cost pull its weight, so there are to be THREE events announced on the postcard. Which means we have had to plan and consult and switch things around at least half a dozen times since we started working on the project, trying to nail down all the dates and times and locations and speakers. As soon as we hear back from one more person, though, we are ready!
For the next tasks: printing, cutting, and adding stamps and addresses. Woo.
